Ukrzaliznytsia owes KCBW almost UAH 1.5 bln for passenger cars delivered in 2022 – plant press service

KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrzaliznytsia’s accounts receivable to Kriukov Car Building Works (KCBW, Poltava region) for 70 passenger cars delivered in 2022 exceeded UAH 1.48 billion, the plant’s press service reported.

"As of December 28, 2022, some 85 wagons have already been delivered, but the last settlements by Ukrzaliznytsia for them were made back in 2021 and only for 15 wagons in the amount of UAH 310.68 million," the company’s website says.

The press service notes that KCBW produced and delivered wagons during 2022, but did not receive any money.

"KCBW will be standing idle during the first 20 days of January 2023, as it does not have funds to purchase components," the report says.

The plant leaders repeatedly informed Poltava regional military administration, Ukrzaliznytsia, and the relevant ministries about the consequences of the lack of payments for such a volume of production.

On December 29, 2022, the management of the plant sent an urgent letter about the critical situation at the plant to the head of Poltava administration Dmytro Lunin in connection with publications that appeared in the media with reference to him about KCBW’s receiving payment for the delivered cars.

"The letter emphasizes that the receipt of funds by KCBW this month is critically necessary to complete the execution of the state order in full and ensure the delivery of the remaining 15 cars (out of 100 under the contract)," the press service said.

As reported, under the contract concluded in 2021, KCBW is to supply Ukrzaliznytsia 100 passenger cars for more than UAH 3 billion.
