KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, according to recent data, in January-October 2023 transported 7.1% less cargo than in the same period last year – 120.58 million tonnes, follows from the analytical note prepared for the meeting on issues of export transportation of goods by rail with the leadership of the cargo vertical of Ukrzaliznytsia on November 7.
The volume of transportation in October amounted to 13.58 million tonnes, which is 12.6% more than in October last year and is the highest figure since the beginning of the year.
In export traffic in January-October, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 43.28 million tonnes, which is 15.5% less than in the same period last year. The reduction was mainly due to a decrease in the volume of transportation for export of iron and manganese ore by 5.7 million tonnes, ferrous metals by 1.33 million tonnes, and mineral construction materials by 960,000 tonnes, Ukrzaliznytsia’s materials indicate.
In October, 4.88 million tonnes were transported in export traffic, which is 36% more than in September. The growth is associated with the resumption of shipments from the ports of Odesa, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
The first place in the structure of export transportation in October is occupied by iron and manganese ore with a share of 39% (1.93 million tonnes), grains are in second place with 35% – 1.73 million tonnes, and ferrous metals are in third place with 330,000 tonnes (7%).
It was previously reported that in January-September 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 107 million tonnes of cargo, which is 9.2% less than in the same period last year. The volume of transportation in September amounted to 12 million tonnes, which is 3.1% more than in September last year and 1.8% less than in August 2023.
