KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres welcomes the resumption of Russia’s participation in the Black Sea grain initiative, his representative Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday.
“The Secretary-General warmly welcomes the announcement from the Russian Federation on its resumed participation in the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative to facilitate the safe navigation for exports of grain, foodstuffs and fertilizer from Ukraine,” Dujarric’s statement, published on the UN website, says.
He is grateful for the diplomatic efforts of Türkiye, and thanks the UN Coordinator, Amir Abdulla, and his team for their work to keep this vital food supply line open.
The Secretary General expressed gratitude to Turkey for its diplomatic efforts, as well as to the UN Permanent Coordinator at the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) in Istanbul, Amir Abdullah and his team for their work in keeping the "grain corridor" open.
The Secretary General, as noted in the statement, will continue to interact with all participants of the grain initiative to achieve its extension later in November. He also remains committed to removing obstacles to the export of food and fertilizers from Russia.
