KYIV. May 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian Union of Dairy Enterprises demands that the Ukrainian government intensify negotiations with Poland, establish unimpeded trade and prevent the creation of new artificial obstacles for Ukrainian carriers crossing the border.
“As an industry, we have already experienced the unsettled approval of veterinary documents, more and more new requirements of the Polish customs service, the decision of the Polish government to ban the import of certain products, farmers’ strikes, and so on. All this negatively affects the economy of our dairy enterprises,” the association said.
The union recalled that due to Poland’s ban on the import of a number of Ukrainian agricultural products, Ukrainian carriers have been standing at the Polish-Ukrainian border for weeks. After the problem had been solved, the Yahodyn crossing was closed, and the roads were blocked by Polish carriers.
“As a result of the change of routes, the queue of trucks heading to Ukraine stretched for 70 km,” the union said.
The association is confident that the government should work more actively with the Polish side to eliminate the artificial causes of such queues at the border. The union also expressed its readiness to independently apply to the Polish government and the Polish court to resolve these issues.
