Volume of gas in UGS facilities reaches level required at start of autumn-winter period of 14.7 bcm – Ministry of Energy

KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has accumulated 14.7 billion cubic meters of gas in underground gas storage facilities (UGS), which corresponds to the government’s target for the beginning of the autumn-winter period 2023/2024, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported.

“As of September 19, the total volume of natural gas in underground gas storage facilities reached 14.7 billion cubic meters. Consequently, the plan of the Cabinet of Ministers to achieve the forecast balance of natural gas in storage facilities necessary for the heating season was completed ahead of schedule,” according to the release of the Ministry of Energy with reference to its head Herman Haluschenko.

According to him, such results were achieved thanks to the effective work of the new management of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy and the coordinated work of all gas companies – Ukrgazvydobuvannia, Ukrtransgaz and the GTS Operator of Ukraine.

“Today, the entire energy and oil and gas industry is actively preparing for the new heating season, which will take place under conditions of Russian attacks. The accumulation of gas in our storage facilities ahead of schedule is an important contribution to ensuring the country’s energy security,” Haluschenko noted.
