KYIV. Dec 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Due to warming, the level of electricity consumption has decreased, but remains high, and using the resource sparingly is still important, Ukrenergo reported.
According to its post on Telegram, a 5°C increase in outdoor temperatures (2.4°C versus -2.6°C) reduced the daily maximum consumption on December 17 by 4.4% compared to December 10.
However, overall consumption remains high. This is typical for the winter period, but still creates an additional load on the energy system, the system operator explained.
At the same time, according to its data, the electricity produced by power plants of all types is sufficient to ensure energy supply to all legal and household consumers.
In addition, electricity is imported throughout most of the day from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova with a total volume of 6,371 MWh, which is almost 10% more than on Friday. However, its maximum power in individual hours is up to 694 MW, which is much less than the technical import capacity of 1,700 MW.
Ukrenergo also noted that the high-voltage overhead line, which had been switched off due to bad weather, resumed operation in the eastern region.
According to the Ministry of Energy, a unit of the thermal power plant went into short-term repairs, but another was put into operation at the same time; a mine in Donetsk region, which was de-energized due to shelling, was also powered.
In total, due to hostilities and other reasons, 454 settlements remain without electricity.
As reported, almost 200 settlements remained without electricity on Monday morning due to bad weather. DTEK announced that the next unit of thermal power plants up to 150 MW has completed repairs.
