Zaporizhstal masters production of new types of hot-rolled steel from structural steel, delivers trial batch to Poland

KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Zaporizhia-based metallurgical plant Zaporizhstal has mastered the production of hot-rolled products from structural steel grades as part of expanding the range of products.

According to the company’s report on Tuesday, the Zaporizhstal plant of the Metinvest group has successfully completed the process of expanding the scope of the certificate for compliance of hot-rolled steel with the requirements of the EN 10025-1 standard for steel grades S235-275 J0-J2 and S355 J0-J2.

At the same time, Zaporizhstal has begun production of in-demand metal products, which, before the full-scale invasion, were produced at the Illich Mariupol Metallurgical Plant. To do this, the company underwent an inspection of the production process and an analysis of technological capabilities, and as a result, received a certificate of conformity of the plant production control from the Dedal international certification body.

“Despite the full-scale war, difficult times of crisis in the domestic mining and metallurgical complex, Zaporizhstal keeps working to expand its product range and enter new markets. The certificate of conformity of the plant production control will allow us to move into a new segment for Zaporizhstal – the production of more critical structural pipes, as well as parts for mechanical engineering and containers,” Zaporizhstal Director General Roman Slobodianiuk was quoted by the press service.

Trial deliveries of these products have already been sent to several Polish customers, the first feedback on pipe cutting and production has been received, and control tests have been carried out. By continuing to work in this direction, Zaporizhstal will be able to improve production results, achieve additional production volumes and sales of hot-rolled steel that meets the European standard EN 10025-1:2004 structural steel grades S235-275 J0-J2 and S355 J0-J2 in thicknesses 1, 8-8 mm. The rolled products fully meet the requirements of the European Union directives regarding rolled products used in civil or industrial construction, according to the press release.

Zaporizhstal is in the process of integrating into the Metinvest group, the main shareholders of which are PJSC System Capital Management (71.24%) and the Smart Holding group of companies (23.76%).
