KYIV. May 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says Russia is closely following his trips to African countries, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov immediately tries to communicate with the people the Ukrainian minister spoke to.
“Everything, of course, is not easy. Everything is very complicated. Because for 30 years Russia has been working very powerfully here, sowing its propaganda. It has been convincing and convincing that it is the savior and the only defender of Africa on the world stage. I know that Moscow is watching very closely behind my tour. And where I appear, then the Russian ambassador appears and starts telling how bad it was that they received the Ukrainian minister,” Kuleba said in a video address on Instagram.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Lavrov “following his footsteps” immediately tries to talk to those people with whom the Ukrainian minister spoke, and prepares his visits to Africa.
Kuleba called Africa now “the space of a diplomatic duel.”
“Unfortunately. I would like the Russians to admit their defeat and stop their senseless attempts, which will lead nowhere. However, the struggle continues. And we must fight for every corner of the world, since Ukraine’s interest is in every corner of the world. I am convinced that we just need to find this interest and use it in the interests of our country and victory,” he said.
Kuleba said the next African country he intends to visit is Rwanda.
As reported, on May 22, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced the start of a second tour of African countries and plans to visit states in all parts of the continent “from north to south.” In particular, Kuleba has already visited Morocco and Ethiopia.
