Ex-Deputy Minister of Economy can pay bail of UAH 939,400 – SAPO

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has chosen a bail of UAH 939,400 for the former deputy minister of economy, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has reported.

“On September 1, 2023, at the request of the NABU detectives, approved by the SAPO prosecutor, the HACC investigating judge chose a measure of restraint for another suspect in the case of abuses worth over UAH 62 million during the procurement of products as humanitarian aid, namely the former deputy minister of economy,” SAPO in a report posted on its Telegram channel on Friday.

In addition, the suspect, according to the court decision, is obliged to: attend the detective, the prosecutor and the court as directed; not to leave Kyiv without the permission of the detective, the prosecutor and the court; notify the detective, the prosecutor or the court of any change of address and employment; refrain from communicating with other suspects and witnesses in the case; deposit his passport (passports) with the appropriate public authorities to prevent travel abroad, other documents giving the right to leave Ukraine and enter Ukraine.

The issue of appealing against this measure of restraint will be resolved after reading the full text of the court decision.

The prosecutor’s office reminds that on August 24, 2023, SAPO and NABU notified the first deputy minister of agrarian policy and food and the former deputy minister of economy of abusing UAH 62.5 million during the procurement of food products to meet the needs of the state during martial law.

On August 31, the HACC chose a bail of UAH 805,000 for First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky.
