KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna has discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the strengthening of coordination for the practical implementation of decisions of the NATO Summit in Vilnius.
“Ukraine stands firmly on its European and Euro-Atlantic path. Our desire to become a full member of NATO is irreversible. The NATO Summit in Vilnius became an important milestone on this path; its decisions are important for the strategic development of relations between Ukraine and the Alliance. All of them bring Ukraine closer to NATO, and we strive to implement them in full,” the press service quoted the deputy prime minister on the results of her meeting with Stoltenberg at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
Stefanishyna emphasized in this context that Ukraine views the Ukraine-NATO Council primarily as an instrument for integration with the Alliance.
“Taking into account the possible intensification of Russian attacks on the energy complex of Ukraine, Olha Stefanishyna proposed holding a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on energy security issues in the near future,” the press service said.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the vision of the structure and format of the adapted Annual National Program (ANP), the roadmap for compatibility between Ukraine and NATO, an updated comprehensive aid package for Ukraine, the current security situation and urgent needs of Ukraine.
“The more weapons we get, the faster we will liberate all our territories. Our most urgent needs remain unchanged – air defense systems, tanks, heavy armored vehicles, ammunition, F-16 fighters,” Stefanishyna said.
