KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze (the European Solidarity faction) has expressed the hope that the Spanish parliament would adopt a resolution on support for Ukraine soon.
“I hope that in the near future, after the government is formed and all the committees and commissions in both houses of the Spanish Parliament are formed, our colleagues will be able to consider resolutions in support for Ukraine. In particular, on the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian people. We […] discussed how important it is to learn the lessons of history in order to understand what we are dealing with today. After all, this is not the first time that Russia has attempted to destroy the Ukrainian people,” she said on Facebook following a meeting with President of the Spanish Senate Pedro Rollán and President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Francesca Armengol Socias in Madrid.
The Spanish parliamentarians said they will do everything to ensure that the Ukraine issue remains a priority one on the agenda after the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union as well.
Klympush-Tsintsadze invited Rollán and Socias to visit Ukraine “in order to demonstrate political support and feel the horror of war in which the Ukrainian society lives.”
