KYIV. Oct 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In eight settlements of Bakhmut and Pokrovsky districts of Donetsk region, a forced evacuation of children has been announced, according to the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.
“Today, at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters on mandatory evacuation, the decision of Donetsk Regional Military Administration to announce the mandatory evacuation of about 250 children was unanimously supported. It will be carried out from eight settlements in Bakhmut and Pokrovsky districts, where the situation remains critical,” the ministry’s press service said.
It is noted that all children, accompanied by one of the parents or a legal representative, will be taken out before the onset of cold weather. “First, the evacuees are sent to a humanitarian hub. There they can rest, eat and receive all possible support and assistance. Then Zhytomyr region will receive them. There they will be provided with free shelter, social benefits, humanitarian aid and psychological support,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, 41 children have already been taken to safe places.
