KYIV. Oct 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The consumer confidence index (CCI) of Ukrainians in September decreased by 2.1 points compared to August and amounted to 82.8 points (index values range from 0 to 200), according to a study of Info Sapiens.
“In September 2023, we observe a slight drop in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI). In September, both the both Index of the Current Situation (ICS) and Index of Economic Expectations (ІЕE) decreased. In general, starting from June 2023, there is a tendency to stabilization of Consumer Confidence,” Info Sapiens analysts said, commenting on the results.
At the same time, they said that compared to the previous month, there was an increase in the Index of Devaluation Expectations (IDE).
According to published data, the index of the Current Situation (ICS) decreased in September by 2.7 points, to 53.9 points. In particular, the Index of Current Personal Financial Standing increased by 0.9 points to 50.9 points, while the Index of Propensity to Consume decreased by 6.4 points to 56.9 points.
The Index of Economic Expectations (ІЕE) in September decreased by 1.7 points and amounted to 102 points. As for its components, the Index of Expected Changes in Personal Financial Standing decreased by 4.2 points to 96.3 points, while the Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development over the next year increased by 4.7 points to 93 points.
As stated in the study, the Index of Expectations of the Country’s Economic Development over the Next Five Years decreased by 5.6 points compared to last month and amounted to 116.6 points at the end of September.
Info Sapiens said that the Index of Expectations of Changes in Unemployment decreased by 2 points compared to August, to 122.3 points.
In turn, the index of inflation expectations remained at the level of the previous month, and the Index of Inflationary Expectations increased by 9.5 points to 153.7 points.
During the poll, 1,000 people aged 16 and over are interviewed using a representative sample by gender, age, and size of the settlement. The statistical deviation does not exceed 3.1%. The study has been conducted since June 2000: previously it was conducted by GfK Ukraine, and since 2019 – by Info Sapiens. The dates of the latest survey are from September 12 to September 22, 2023.
