About 100 citizens of Ukraine daily cross border from Russia in Sumy region – Demchenko

KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 100 citizens of Ukraine cross the border daily at the Pokrovka checkpoint in Sumy region, Andriy Demchenko, speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, has said.

“If we talk about the border with the Russian Federation, we see that our citizens are now increasingly arriving at the Ukrainian border in the direction of the Pokrovka checkpoint, in Sumy region. There, every day, border guards provide access to the territory of Ukraine to about 100 citizens of Ukraine who arrive from the Russian territory,” Demchenko said during the telethon.

The department recalled that all checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation and Belarus are closed by decision of the Ukrainian government, and checkpoint operations “in the classical form” are not carried out there.

“However, all citizens of Ukraine who, because of the war, were forced to travel to the territory of the Russian Federation or from temporarily occupied territories to the Russian Federation in transit, can cross the Ukrainian border in any direction,” Demchenko explained.
