Over 70 million tonnes of grains, legumes and industrial crops harvested – PM

KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said that more than 70 million tonnes of grains, legumes and industrial crops have already been harvested.

“We are completing the harvest of the second harvest during the war. Currently, more than 70 million tonnes of grains, legumes and industrial crops have been harvested,” Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

According to him, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food estimates that the total harvest volume in 2023 will be about 79 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds, which is almost 10% more than last year.

“The government has helped and will help Ukrainian farmers. Farmers are the main recipients of loans under government preferential lending programs, because now they are the basis of our economy and our exports,” he said.

Shmyhal said that in September, Ukraine exported 3.6 million tonnes of agricultural products, in particular, almost 2.3 million tonnes through the Danube ports, and during the operation of the temporary sea corridor, about 700,000 tonnes of grain were exported.
