Some 83% of public organizations receive no intl financial support after Feb 24, 2022 – study

KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Some 83% of public organizations did not receive international financial support after February 24, 2022, according to a study by the 4Service agency for the East Europe Foundation.

According to the study, 91% of public organizations surveyed did not move due to the full-scale war, while 30% of organization employees were forced to relocate.

When asked whether your organization changed the direction of its activities during the war, 79% answered that it had not, 19% said that it had changed, and 2% found it difficult to answer.

The main activities of public organizations as of July 2023 are: humanitarian assistance and volunteering (41%), trainings and consultations (39%), provision of services, including social (32%), protection of rights and representation of interests (20%), analytics and research (14%) and rehabilitation (13%).

Among the sources of funding, 34% of the surveyed public organizations answered that these were membership fees, 27% – donations from citizens, 27% – do not have funding, 23% – their own project activities with grants, and 15% – donations from business.

Some 17% of public organizations reported that they received international support after February 24, 2022, and 83% that they did not receive such funding.

The study is based on a combined approach based on quantitative and qualitative methods. A total of 621 representatives of organizations were interviewed. From each organization – one representative (management team): 601 – through a quantitative survey, and 20 representatives of the public sector – during the qualitative stage of the study.
