Rada backs resignation of Gutzeit from post of Minister of Youth and Sports

KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Vadym Gutzeit from the post of Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

The corresponding decision was supported by 243 MPs at a plenary meeting on Thursday.

As a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine reports, this is evidenced by the live broadcast of the plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, which is hosted on the Tik-Tok social network by a member of the European Solidarity parliamentary faction, Oleksiy Honcharenko.

As reported, the Rada appointed Vadym Gutzeit as Minister of Youth and Sports on March 4, 2020, during a package vote for the new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Gutzeit was born on October 6, 1971. He is saber fencer, participant in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, 1992 Olympic champion in the team event. Subsequently, coach, Honored Coach of Ukraine (2003).

In 2017, he headed the Fencing Federation of Ukraine, and in 2018 – the Department of Youth and Sports of Kyiv City State Administration.

In the early parliamentary elections of 2019, he was included in the electoral list of the Servant of the People party at No. 81, but then refused to participate in the elections, saying that he was more useful in the executive branch than in parliament.

Gutzeit has been heading the NOC of Ukraine since November 17, 2022.
