KYIV. Nov 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On Thursday, 19 civilians were evacuated from the frontline town of Avdiyivka, Donetsk region, but 1,523 more people remain in the city, said Vitaliy Barabash, head of Avdiivka Town Military Administration.
“Today we managed to evacuate 19 citizens from the town … People went more actively: there is a record for tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, and a day earlier. I am glad that people have really already made this decision for themselves, that after all, life is more expensive than some conventional square meters of that destroyed housing. As of tonight, 1,523 people are still, unfortunately, staying in the town,” Barabash said on the air of the National Telethon on Thursday.
As of the beginning of 2019, 32,800 people lived in Avdiyivka, however, due to constant shelling by the Russian occupiers, starting in 2022, most residents left the town and at the beginning of June this year, only 1,700 permanent residents remained in Avdiyivka.
