U.S.-based Tetra Tech, Inc will help demine energy infrastructure – Energy Ministry

KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Energy and the American company Tetra Tech, Inc have agreed to cooperate on demining the energy infrastructure of Ukraine.

As stated in the release of the Ministry of Energy, the corresponding memorandum was signed during the Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine conference in Warsaw in the presence of Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko and Vice President of Tetra Tech, Inc. Steve Priestley by Deputy Minister Yaroslav Demchenkov and manager of the Tetra Tech, Inc project Jeff Caldwell.

It is expected that Tetra Tech, Inc will provide technical assistance and advisory support to the Ministry of Energy in the implementation of mine action measures. The parties will also cooperate to safely restore Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure by clearing energy facilities, their sites and adjacent areas of explosive hazards.

“Demining energy facilities is one of the priorities, thanks to which power engineers will be able to quickly restore electricity and gas supplies to the population,” noted Haluschenko.

Jeff Caldwell, in turn, emphasized that the agreements concluded will help improve energy security in Ukraine.
