By KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Moldova Maia Sandu, at a press conference in Kyiv, thanked President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the fight of Ukrainians against the Russian invasion.
“Today I thank you on behalf of the citizens of Moldova for the extraordinary sacrifices that Ukrainian soldiers make at the front, fighting the Russian invasion, so that the country remains free and independent. Without this resistance, without this struggle, we know that our country would have become next on the list of Russian occupation targets. And I think it’s not the last one on this list. By protecting Ukraine, you are also protecting Moldova,” she said on Tuesday following the talks with the President of Ukraine and President of the European Council Charles Michel.
“Our railways, our ‘Solidarity Lanes’ will help Ukrainian goods reach export markets. We are helping Ukrainian groups with mine clearance and have joined the relevant international coalition. Moldova provides humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and helps ensure uninterrupted energy supply to homeholds,” she said.
Sandu said “Moldova is ready to continue the hard work.” “We are reforming the judicial system, fighting corruption and the toxic influence of former oligarchs. By the way, many of them are Russian ‘proxies,” she said.
According to Sandu, “the decision on EU accession negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine is a message that will be heard not only in Kyiv and Chisinau, but also in Moscow. This will be a message that the joint association ‘Democratic Europe’ is ready to fight for peace.”
