KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said it is necessary to develop effective legislation on national minorities that would be streamlined with the European standards and help to strengthen Ukraine.
“We held consultations today with the participation of representatives of the government, the Verkhovna Rada, the Office of the President, and national minorities. We should develop effective and harmonious legislation on national minorities that would meet the European standards and work to strengthen Ukraine,” he said on the Telegram channel on Friday.
The prime minister emphasized that Ukraine intends to continue showing progress in strengthening the protection of national minorities.
“Amendments to the laws have been developed as of the moment. Opinions of representatives of various ethnic communities in Ukraine were taken into account. Experience and practices of other European countries was adapted,” he said.
Shmyhal also said that the stronger is the base of inter-ethnic understanding “the stronger Ukraine will be in the circle of united European family.”
