KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Law enforcement officers notified an officer of the Russian Armed Forces of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), who during the occupation of the village of Terny of Donetsk region ordered cruel treatment of civilians, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has reported.
“According to the investigation, during the occupation of the village of Terny, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, an army officer of the aggressor state gave orders to his subordinates to brutally treat the local population. On April 20, 2022, Russian military personnel, in violation of international humanitarian law, illegally deprived two civilians of their freedom. They did not pose any threat to the occupying forces,” a message published on the Telegram channel on Wednesday reads.
In addition, the Russians intimidated and forced one of the local residents to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the authorities, as well as to commit actions in favor of the occupying power. The occupiers caused the man severe moral suffering.
The pretrial investigation is carried out by the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
