KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During a working trip to Kherson region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy familiarized himself with the presentation of the development of the civil protection system in the region, the presidential press service has reported.
“During a working trip to Kherson region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy familiarized himself with the presentation of the development of the civil protection system in the region. The Head of State inspected the largest shelter set up in Kherson. It is equipped to accommodate 250 people during an air alert,” reads a message posted on the official website of the President of Ukraine on Wednesday.
As reported, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin briefed the President on the repair and reconstruction of shelters in the region. According to him, street shelters and gabions are being installed in the region’s settlements. It is also planned to continue the construction of bomb shelters in schools and kindergartens. According to Prokudin, work is underway to set up a public warning system. In addition, fortifications and engineering structures are being built. Special attention is paid to the protection of critical infrastructure.
The Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration briefed the President about the project to build an underground perinatal center in Kherson. This center is intended to have maternity and postpartum wards, operating rooms, and intensive care units equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment. Additionally, there are plans to construct an underground city clinical hospital with modern operating and resuscitation units, as well as intensive care units.
