KYIV. Dec 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Polish Armament Agency has announced the start of deliveries of upgraded FlyEye drones to the country’s armed forces, the total number of UAVs supplied will reach 1,7000 units.
“At the end of November, the Polish army completed the acceptance of five sets of FlyEye UAVs upgraded under a contract dated December last year by WB Group [a Polish manufacturer of electronics and aviation equipment, one of the largest private defense contractors in the EU],” the agency said in a social media message published on Monday.
“Mini-class unmanned aerial systems have been updated to the latest version of the system – FlyEye v.3.6. The modernization of unmanned aerial vehicles was carried out on the basis of the collected opinions and experience, including the experience of combat operations in Ukraine. Improvements have affected navigation systems, security and integration with the Topaz system [American radar reconnaissance spacecraft],” they explained.
The Arms Agency reports that the concluded framework agreement implies the supply of “almost 1,700 unmanned aerial vehicles, more than 400 sets – in the latest version of the system.”
FlyEye UAVs are currently in service with artillery, territorial and a number of other branches of the Polish Armed Forces.
