Ukrzaliznytsia to increase cost of tickets for international trains from Dec 10

KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – JSC Ukrzaliznytsia will increase the cost of tickets for international rail transport from 3% to 72%, depending on the destination, to reduce and continue updating the rolling stock, the Ukrzaliznytsia press service reported on Tuesday.

“Losses from passenger transportation exceed UAH 12 billion. The change in tariffs will allow Ukrzaliznytsia to keep the cost of tickets for travel within the country at the current level, as well as to continue the modernization of rolling stock, which is actively continuing even during large-scale invasion,” the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

According to it, the cost of tickets for the most popular train Kyiv – Warsaw – Kyiv will increase by 72%. However, cheaper alternative options will be available on this route, the price of which will not grow so high.

In particular, depending on the seat class, the cost of travel to Chełm, from where one can transfer to Warsaw trains and back, will increase: for trains from Dnipro – within 4-11%, from Kharkiv – 17-48%, and from Kyiv – 15-47% .

In addition, the cost of travel on night trains to Vienna and Przemyśl will increase by 3%.

Intercity+ Kyiv – Przemyśl – Kyiv ticket price will increase by 26%, and for the night train Odesa – Przemysl – Odesa price will grow in the range of 37-49%.

The company reported that the cost of tickets for trains to Chisinau and Budapest, as well as for socially important suburban trains, will remain unchanged.

According to the Ukrzaliznytsia’s press release, the new tariffs will apply with the launch of a new passenger train schedule from December 10, 2023.
