By KYIV. Dec 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine wants to destroy Russian air dominance in 2024, as this, among other things, will strengthen its ground forces and allow it to control the duration of the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“We have liberated 50% of the territories occupied by Russia after February 2022. We have cleared the Black Sea. We are rebuilding our economy. Ukraine has achieved 5% GDP growth this year. Even in conditions of war, we continue to reform the state,” Zelenskyy said at a joint press conference with the U.S. president in Washington.
“We demonstrate that no Russian missile is stronger or wiser than the American Patriot systems. For which we thank the United States very much,” he added.
According to Zelenskyy, during a meeting with Biden, he discussed how to further strengthen Ukraine from next year, in particular, in matters of air defense and the disruption of Russian logistics in Ukrainian territories.
“Just as we achieved victories in the Black Sea, we want to win in the air. We want to destroy Russia’s dominance in the air. It will strengthen our ground forces in 2024 if we control our skies. Whoever controls the sky controls the duration of the war,” Zelenskyy said.
