By KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday.
As Zelenskyy said in his Telegram channel, the goal was “to coordinate positions on the eve of the European Council summit.”
“We discussed Ukraine’s progress in implementing EU recommendations necessary to decide on the start of accession negotiations. I hope that EU leaders will recognize Ukraine’s efforts and take this historic step. Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the commitments. I believe that unity will prevail at tomorrow’s meeting of the European Council and the European Union will reaffirm its strength and leadership,” he also said.
