KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (Ministry for the Restoration), with the support of the UK Government, selected ten communities that will receive assistance in restoration planning and developing budget documentation.
According to the ministry’s press service, Ladyzhyn (Vinnytsa region), Novobuh (Mykolaiv region), Karolino-Buhaz (Odesa region), Hoholeve (Poltava region), Romny and Dubovyazivka (both Sumy region), Novopokrovka (Kharkiv region), Sosnytsia, Bobrovytsia and Mykhailo-Kotsiubynske (Chernihiv region) communities were selected as a result of a competition.
Most applications were received for the restoration of educational establishments, water supply systems, rehabilitation centers, multifunctional public spaces that unite central administrative centers, village and town councils and places of public activity.
Development Director of the UK Embassy in Ukraine Stefan Kossoff said that territorial communities are the engines of the country’s restoration and decentralization. To recover, they need to develop solid planning documents, and they need to be supported in this, he said. The UK Government will work together with the Ministry for the Restoration to provide practical assistance in the process of restoring Ukraine.
In addition, representatives of all 487 communities that applied for participation in the competition will be able to take part in specialized training on the topic of preparing projects to attract funding from international donors, community cooperation, basic data visualization tools, etc.
The Good Governance Fund’s Community Recovery Planning project is being implemented jointly by Abt Britain and KPMG in Ukraine, jointly with the Ministry for the Restoration and the UK Government.
