KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Over the past two weeks, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine approved nine types of ammunition for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and four types of ammunition for under-barrel grenade launchers for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk told ArmyInform.
“Among the ammunition that was approved for use by the Defense Ministry of Ukraine in the past two weeks, there are nine types of ammunition for UAVs: multi-purpose, combined action, high-explosive fragmentation, cumulative fragmentation action. In addition, four more types of ammunition for under-barrel grenade launchers were approved. These are developments of domestic enterprises that have confirmed their tactical and technical characteristics in conditions of use close to combat,” he said.
The deputy minister also noted that during this period, 15 types of military equipment and weapons were codified, including a robotic ground strike system, a 40-mm automatic grenade launcher, seven unmanned aerial systems of various modifications, as well as tactical means of radio interference with loitering ammunition.
Havryliuk said that tests of several samples of an FPV-type reconnaissance UAV, a 120-mm grenade launcher, an anti-personnel hand grenade, and a Ukrainian-made mine trawl have been completed.
In addition, testing of small arms, in particular new types of machine guns, is underway.
