Orban says Hungary blocks EUR 50 bln in aid to Ukraine

KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Hungary overnight blocked a package vote for the allocation of EUR 50 billion in aid to Ukraine.

“Summary of the nightshift: veto for the extra money to Ukraine, veto for the MFF review. We will come back to the issue next year in the EUCO after proper preparation,” he said on the X social network.

EU leaders were offered a package vote for adoption: EUR 50 billion for Ukraine, spending on migration programs, funding for the EU Solidarity and Defense Fund. With 26 votes in favor, only Hungary was against. No decisions were made, postponing it until early next year.
