KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The decision of the European Council to start negotiations on Ukrainian membership in the EU is a powerful signal to protect and promote the values of democracy and the rule of law in the world, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin notes.
“The decision of the European Council to start accession negotiations with Ukraine during our war for the future is a historic moment not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe and the international community. This is a powerful signal that the free world not only protects, but also promotes our common values of democracy and the rule of law,” Kostin is quoted by the Prosecutor General’s Office as saying on the Telegram channel on Friday.
Kostin stressed that the Prosecutor General’s Office is determined to defend justice for the sake of the Ukrainian people and continue to make every effort to “ensure responsibility for the international crimes of the Russian regime.”
“We firmly believe that peace without justice is impossible. Restoring justice for Ukraine opens the way to peace and stability around the world. We are sincerely grateful to all our partners for their unwavering support on this path,” concluded the Prosecutor General.
