By KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov discussed the blockade of the Polish border with the newly appointed Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Dariusz Klimczak in Warsaw.
“We had our first meeting with the newly appointed Polish Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak in Warsaw. We discussed several issues in the transport sector, but the main topic was unblocking the border,” Kubrakov wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.
According to him, the Ukrainian side presented key figures and analytical data on freight transportation by Ukrainian and Polish truck drivers, which indicate that the problems that the protesters are talking about do not actually exist.
Also, according to him, the issue of creating a separate electronic queue for empty trucks at Yahodyn-Dorohusk was discussed.
The deputy prime minister said that registration in a separate queue began on Monday, but the practical effect is impossible to see, since the border is blocked. According to Kubrakov, three trucks left Yahodyn within 24 hours.
He emphasized that Ukraine has increased the registration period for trucks with foreign registration from 20 to 60 days. The decision became possible thanks to the clarification of the State Customs Service sent to regional customs.
“We discussed the arguments and position of the Polish side. It is important to come to a common understanding of the figures and data on transportation and the market share occupied by our and Polish truckers,” Kubrakov wrote.
He said that another meeting with representatives of Poland in Kyiv should take place this week.
