KYIV. Dec 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to European legislation is the main task of the Verkhovna Rada in 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk believes.
“I am glad that by the end of 2023 we received such a powerful signal of support from the European Union – we have officially opened accession negotiations. This is a very serious stage in our relations, which will definitely end with our membership in the EU. Therefore, the main tasks for the Verkhovna Rada next year are to work hard on adapting Ukrainian legislation to European legislation,” Kondratiuk said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
She noted that according to its practices, the EU is launching monitoring of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with European legislation.
“The reconciliation will be conducted according to a document with 35 chapters. They are generally known,” she said.
“I would like the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to start the process of adapting legislation now, without waiting for official EU recommendations,” Kondratiuk stressed.
According to the deputy speaker, next year will be difficult for Ukraine.
“2024 will not be easy, we must be frank. The third year of the war for the state is the depletion of all resources, both financial and human. And for people, this is extreme fatigue, which can manifest itself in despondency, despair. I hope that we all have enough endurance and understanding that our goal is right and fair, although the path to this goal is difficult,” Kondratiuk said.
