KYIV. Oct 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since October 19, Russia has launched 52 missile strikes against the territory of Ukraine, none of them was aimed at military facilities, instead, Russia continued to focus its efforts on the destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Brigadier General Oleksiy Hromov said.
"Analysis of the nature of the use of missile weapons by the enemy over the past week shows a significant decrease in its intensity. So, since October 19, the enemy has fired 52 missiles on the territory of Ukraine. From October 10 to October 18, the enemy fired 146 missiles," Hromov said at a press briefing hosted by the Military Media Center on Thursday.
Hromov also emphasized the fact that last week there were no military objects among the targets attacked by enemy missiles, Russia continued to focus its efforts on destroying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities.
"This is a cynical violation of the rules and customs of warfare," he said.
At the same time, Hromov said that almost half of the enemy’s cruise missiles were shot down by the Ukrainian defense forces.
"Since October 19, the enemy has also used 114 unmanned aerial vehicles against civilian and military infrastructure facilities on the territory of Ukraine, which is a third less than during the previous week. The effectiveness of the air defense system also remains at a sufficient level and accounts for 79% of downed enemy drones," Hromov said.
According to him, in the last 24 hours alone, 18 out of 20 kamikaze drones that were used against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure were destroyed by air defense forces and means.
"Over the past week, our defenders have destroyed another six Ka-52, Mi-24, Mi-28 attack helicopters of the enemy. The total number of enemy helicopters destroyed is around 250, which is equal to five regiments of the army aviation," Hromov said.
