KYIV. Oct 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that Ukraine and the Czech Republic have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment, a memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministries, and a joint declaration of intergovernmental consultations.
"Today we’ve held a historic joint meeting between the two governments. For the first time in the history of our country, a symbolic meeting of the government took place, intergovernmental consultations were held, which were very effective and very fruitful," Shmyhal said at a joint briefing with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Kyiv on Monday.
The prime minister reported that as a result of the meeting, the parties signed three documents: a memorandum of cooperation in the field of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment, a memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministries, and a joint declaration of intergovernmental consultations.
In addition, the parties agreed on the work of joint intergovernmental commissions in various areas, in particular, on the development of industrial, scientific and technical cooperation.
In this context, Shmyhal noted that Ukraine is interested in cooperation in steel industry.
For his part, Fiala emphasized the need to deepen cooperation with Ukraine.
He also emphasized that the Czech Republic will continue to provide military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Among other things, the parties discussed sanctions policy, confiscation of Russian assets, demining, macro-financial support, cooperation in energy, health care, and social protection.
