KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United States is aiming to send Ukraine the Vampire counter-drone system in the middle of next year, Defense News reported on Wednesday, citing Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder.
"In reference to the Vampires, we do expect a contract award within the next few months, and right now we’re anticipating delivery to be in mid 2023," he said.
Defense News recalled that the Pentagon on August 24 announced it would send the system to Ukraine, but the contract has not yet been approved.
The Vampire system is a laser-guided-missile launcher. Moreover, the system can quickly be installed in a civilian truck bed. Rocket equipment uses laser-guided munitions to hit ground or air targets, including unmanned aircraft systems.
