KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ostchem holding, which is part of Dmytro Firtash’s Group DF and unites nitrogen business plants, has acquired and transferred a number of anti-drone defense systems to the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the press release, the key element of this system is the US-Australian anti-drone device worth UAH 1.1 million. Thanks to the artificial intelligence system, the system detects drones at a distance of up to 4 km. Similar systems are in service with the US Navy.
Another device handed over by Ostchem employees as part of the Ukrainian air defense assistance is ANTIDRON KVSG-6, a Ukrainian-made anti-drone gun capable of hitting drones at a distance of up to 3 km.
At the same time, it is noted that top management and employees of the Ostchem holding, as well as three plants for production of mineral fertilizers – Cherkasy Azot, PrJSC Rivneazot and Severodonetsk Azot have joined this project. Both devices have already been handed over to the command of the 126th brigade of the Odesa territorial defense forces (conducting military operations in Kherson direction) and protect the Ukrainian sky.
"From the first days of the full-scale invasion, our entire team has been doing everything possible to support Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Today, we are focusing on air defense systems that are relevant to counter the enemy at this stage of the war. Ukraine’s first drone detection device and anti-drone gun are already effectively performing their tasks on the frontline," chairman of the board of Rivneazot Mykhailo Zabluda is quoted by the press service.
In turn, Oleh Arestarkhov, head of corporate communications at Group DF, noted that this was an initiative of the leaders of Ostchem and the two plants of the group.
"We are the first large business to supply the Armed Forces with such anti-drone systems. We are coordinating with the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and promptly fulfilled their order. We hope that these systems will save people’s lives," Arestarkhov said.
Earlier, the management of Ostchem enterprises and the European charitable foundation YRZ Non-Profit gemeinnurtzige UG donated 59 CYCLOP 325 thermal imagers for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are modern high-tech optical devices that will help our army identify the enemy and military equipment. Thermal imagers are able to record temperature differences at a distance of up to 1.8 km.
