Head of Reni customs post demands bribes from grain exporters during blockade of Ukrainian ports – SBI

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) have completed a pretrial investigation against the head of the Reni customs post of the Odesa Customs, who received a fixed fee from brokers for processing documents for the export of grain crops.

As reported on the website of the State Bureau of Investigations on Thursday, the indictment was sent to court. He is accused of receiving unlawful benefits by an official in a responsible position (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

"Under the conditions of martial law and the blockade of ports, the customs officer set a fee for each truck and for the issuance of certificates of origin of goods from Ukraine for each vehicle," the report says.

Law enforcement officers detained an official when receiving more than UAH 150,000 from only one customs broker for the unhindered registration of cars with grain crops and the issuance of 15 certificates.
