Training center for 3D printing of buildings to be created in Ukraine

KYIV. Nov 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A training center for 3D printing of buildings will be created in Ukraine, founder and head of the Team4UA Humanitarian Foundation, well-known tech entrepreneur Jean-Christophe Bonis said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"I am creating a training center in the field of 3D printing, we will buy our own printer and we will train architects, engineers, operators how to work with it," Bonis said.

Investments in the 3D printer will amount to $1-1.5 million.

According to him, the decision is now being made on where exactly the training center will be located.

"We are choosing between Kyiv and Lviv. Negotiations are underway at the level of governors. Then we will integrate educational institutions into the project. But this is a private initiative, so everything will be on a private basis. Students will learn not only 3D printing, but also other technologies, as well as principles circular economy," Bonis said.

The raw material for printing objects can be, in particular, concrete from buildings destroyed during the Russian aggression. In this way, several tasks will be solved simultaneously – recycling/reuse of materials and rapid restoration of the territory.

In the spring of 2022, the TEAM4UA Foundation launched a 3D printing project for a school in Lviv. The technology of the Danish company COBOD, number 1 in concrete 3D printing, was chosen.

He added that thanks to the 3D school pilot project, it will be shown that it is possible to create objects of higher quality in a shorter time and at a lower cost.

"My goal is to provide training and tools, to provide technology to generations that will rebuild the country," Bonis said.
