WASHINGTON. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At an energy summit earlier in November, the United States and the European Union said they were determined to continue providing assistance to Ukraine and Moldova in the energy sector, the White House said on Monday.
" The EU and United States will continue to partner on providing emergency energy assistance to Ukraine, and support to other heavily affected countries in the region, such as Moldova," the joint US-EU working group on energy said in a joint statement following their November 3 meeting.
In addition, Washington and Brussels declared their commitment "to an accelerated and responsible clean energy transition." In addition, the summit participants announced their intention to work to maintain a high level of LNG supplies to Europe in 2023.
In March, the United States and EU authorities announced the creation of a working group to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy resources. It was noted that among the tasks of the working group is also to ensure the energy security of Ukraine, as well as to prepare the EU for the next winter period.
A document circulated on Monday says that the European Union has already received about 48 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas from the United States since the beginning of this year, which is 26 billion cubic meters more than in all of 2021.
Thus, the United States has already implemented an agreement on the supply of additional LNG volumes to the EU market in the amount of at least 15 billion cubic meters.
