KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – With the support of Poland, another 13 prefabricated houses centers for 5,000 temporarily displaced persons (IDPs) will be equipped in Ukraine by the end of the year, the press service of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development reported in response to an information request from Interfax-Ukraine.
As reported, the Polish Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves, by prior arrangement with the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, provides Ukraine with modular houses for temporary accommodation of citizens whose housing has been damaged or destroyed in hostilities. A total of 11 centers with prefabricated houses for more than 3,500 people have already been equipped. They were placed in the settlements of Kyiv (Irpin, Bucha, Borodianka, Makariv) and Chernihiv (Novoselivka) regions, as well as in Lviv. Four more centers are at the final stage of development.
When asked by Interfax-Ukraine about financing housing projects for IDPs from the State Regional Development Fund (a number of them related to the reconstruction and completion of construction of facilities were submitted and approved in previous years), the press service reported that by government resolution No. 199 dated March 4, 2022, expenses, including of this fund, were cut in order to increase the reserve fund.
"We also inform you that projects for the construction of housing for internally displaced persons were not implemented at the expense of the State Regional Development Fund’s budget program in past years," the press service said.
