Shmyhal thanks European Commission leadership for proposal to provide Ukraine with MFA+ in 2023

KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has thanked the leadership of the European Commission for the proposal to provide Ukraine with up to EUR 18 billion in a new format of Macro-Financial Assistance+ (MFA+) in 2023.

"The European Commission has submitted a proposal to provide Ukraine with a package of Macro-Financial Assistance in the amount of EUR 18 billion in 2023. A very important initiative that will support the economic stability of our state and strengthen the foundation of future victory. The funds will help cover a significant portion of the $38 billion budget deficit," he said on the Telegram channel.

He thanked President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen for her leadership, as well as Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis and the Czech government for their decisive advocacy for this initiative in the EU.

"We are anticipating a positive decision of the European Parliament and the EU Council," Shmyhal said.
