Five fighters who participated in capture of Mariupol and Severodonetsk sentenced to real jail terms – SBU

KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – According to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBIU), five fighters of the terrorist organizations "LPR" and "DPR", who took part in the Russian occupation of the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region and Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, were sentenced to imprisonment by a court decision.

"Thanks to the evidence base that the Security Service investigators have collected, five members of the LPR/DPR terrorist organizations have been sentenced to real terms of imprisonment. Four of them received 13 years behind bars, and one – 10," the Telegram channel of the SBU reported on Wednesday.

As indicated in the message, four fighters who captured Severodonetsk as part of the "4th separate motorized rifle brigade of the LPR" were captured by the Ukrainian military during hostilities near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region. By court decision, they were sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Another fighter, according to the SBU, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. "He was part of the so-called ‘105th Infantry Regiment of the DPR’ of the 1st Army Corps of the Russian Federation. In the ranks of the occupation group, he captured Mariupol and other settlements of the Azov region," the message says.

The SBU informs that in July 2022, the unit in which the fighter was in the war was relocated to Maryinka district of Donetsk region, where the invaders set up combat positions using armored vehicles, Ukrainian defenders knocked out an enemy infantry fighting vehicle on which the criminal was moving, and detained him.
