Restoration of houses most affected by Russian shelling in Kyiv almost completed – Klitschko

KYIV. Nov 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In Kyiv, work has almost been completed on the restoration of 16 residential buildings most affected by Russian shelling, mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko said.

"At the beginning of summer, we started restoration work on 16 residential buildings most damaged by the shelling of Russian barbarians. Today I already inspected the houses on Svobody Avenue and Irpinska Street, where the work is almost completed. And people are returning to their homes. By the end of the year, repair work will also be completed in three houses nearby (on Svobody Avenue and Mezhova Street), which were also damaged by the blast wave. They repair and insulate the facade and carry out partial repairs in apartments where necessary," Klitschko said, the mayor’s press service reported.

During a visit to a five-story building on Svobody Avenue in Podilsky district, which was damaged in March of this year, when a shell exploded four meters from the wall, Klitschko noted that today construction work had almost been completed at the facility: the façade was completely repaired and insulated, the internal engineering networks were restored, the repair of apartments and common areas that were damaged was almost completed.

The repair of the 29-storey building on Irpinska Street, which courtyard was hit by a Russian missile at the end of March, was also completed.

"To date, the facade and common areas have been completely repaired. The repair of damaged apartments and the restoration of engineering networks have almost been completed. The elevators in the 3rd and 4th entrances have been repaired," the mayor said.

Klitschko stressed that more than 650 infrastructure facilities and residential buildings were damaged by missile attacks in the capital. The capital allocated about UAH 600 million from the reserve fund of the city budget for restoration work. Another 200 million were allocated by the government.
