Ukraine terminates double taxation agreement with Belarus

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Verkhovna Rada terminated the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Belarus on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and property taxes.

According to information on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, 304 MPs voted for this decision, with the required minimum of 226 votes.

As Yaroslav Zhelezniak, deputy head of the relevant committee, said on the Telegram channel, after the termination of the agreement, all income of residents of Belarus received from sources in Ukraine would be subject to a general taxable rate of 15%, established by the Tax Code of Ukraine, instead of a preferential rate of 10%, established by the agreement.

"The termination of this agreement will help accelerate the curtailment of economic and financial ties with the Republic of Belarus, an ally of the aggressor country in a full-scale war against Ukraine," the Finance Ministry said in turn.

He added that the termination of the agreement also implies the termination of Ukraine’s budget losses from paying taxes in Belarus by Ukrainian residents operating there, as well as the release of Ukraine from obligations to exchange information with Belarus on tax issues.
