Reznikov about MH17 trial: Only Ukraine's victory over Russia to enable implementation of court's decision

KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov has welcomed the verdict of the District Court of The Hague to find Russian fighters guilty in the case of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which was downed on July 17, 2014 in the sky over Ukrainian Donbas, on its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

"The Court affirmed the findings of the JIT: MH17 was shot down by a Russian Buk system. The perpetrators of the crime were sentenced to life in prison and are obligated to pay compensation," he said on Twitter on Thursday.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that the final implementation of the court ruling will be possible only after Ukraine wins in the war against Russia.

"But neither the terrorist state nor its war criminals are preparing to repent and serve their punishment. On the contrary: they are committing new crimes – murders, torture and disasters. Only Ukraine’s victory over the russia will enable the court’s decision to be implemented," he said.
