Massive attacks on civilian infrastructure to not prevent prosecutors from achieving results in investigating Russian crimes

KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Despite the massive enemy attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, the investigation of Russian war crimes does not stop and results will be achieved, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin notes.

The message of the Prosecutor General’s Office on the Telegram channel on Friday states that Kostin held an online meeting with Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania Nida Grunskienė and Lithuanian prosecutors, thanking Lithuania, which was the first to apply to the International Criminal Court to investigate Russian war crimes and supports Ukraine on its way to victory.

"For our part, we work under any conditions. Even massive attacks on civilian infrastructure will not prevent prosecutors from achieving results in the investigation of international crimes of the Russian Federation," Kostin assured his Lithuanian colleagues.

The Prosecutor General noted the progress in the investigation launched in the national jurisdiction of the Republic of Lithuania. Thus, the Lithuanian prosecutors held conversations with more than 2,000 Ukrainian citizens temporarily residing in Lithuania, more than 30 Ukrainians there had already received the status of victims.

In addition, according to the report, Kostin informed about active cooperation with the International Criminal Court and Ukraine’s significant efforts to create a special international tribunal for the crime of aggression. He also welcomed the support from international partners for the creation of a compensation mechanism.

In turn, Grunskienė stressed that the problems of Ukraine do not leave Lithuanian prosecutors indifferent, and declared her readiness to make even more efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
