Ukroboronprom launches production of 122, 152 mm caliber ammo and 120 mm mines

KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In recent months, the Ukroboronprom State Concern has launched production of 122 and 152 mm "Soviet" ammunition, as well as 120 mm caliber mines.

"Ammunition has already been successfully tested and is being produced according to NATO technology. This is not the first month. It is dispersed at different capacities, including partner countries," the concern said in a press release on Friday.

Ukroboronprom emphasizes that the ammunition it produces should reduce the dependence of Ukrainian artillery on supplies from abroad, where stocks of Soviet-caliber shells and mines are gradually depleting.

The concern also said that it continues the reform to turn Ukroboronprom into a modern high-tech defense company. As of today, more than two dozen enterprises of the state defense industry have been transformed into business companies, the concern itself is next in line, the release states.

"The reform will increase the transparency of the activities of the public sector of the defense industry, attract even more investment, transfer technology, create more joint ventures, including with NATO countries, and help protect the defense industry from corruption risks," Ukroboronprom said.

It stated that it would jointly produce and develop heavy weapons and military equipment with companies from at least six NATO member countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Denmark and several others, the agreements with which do not provide for the disclosure of any data.

"We are creating joint defense enterprises, building closed-cycle ammunition production lines, jointly producing armored vehicles and multiple launch rocket systems, and developing new high-tech weapons. To do this, we use both existing capacities and newly created ones in safe places," Ukroboronprom stressed.

The concern added that in order to accelerate the development of existing international defense projects and the emergence of new ones, it agreed on further coordination of actions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
