SBU sends to court case against Russian agent who worked for terrorist Strelkov

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has completed pre-trial investigations and sent to court the materials of criminal proceedings against two Russian agents who collected intelligence data on the deployment and movement of units of the Ukrainian defense forces in the eastern direction.

According to a statement on the website of the special service posted on Monday, both perpetrators were detained during special operations conducted by the SBU in the territory of Donetsk region.

"Among the detainees there is a personal informant of Russian terrorist Strelkov-Girkin. He contacted the former "Defense Minister of the [so-called ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’] DPR" in the banned social network Odnoklassniki after the start of a full-scale invasion. He offered Strelkov his "assistance" in the war against Ukraine. By order of the Russian terrorist his accomplice collected information about the places of temporary deployment and routes of movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the territory of Slovyansk. In addition, the perpetrator passed on to the enemy the location of local government agencies and critical infrastructure facilities," the SBU said.

He transferred classified information through his own account in the form of pins on electronic maps with a detailed description of the nearby area.

Another henchman of the invaders was a resident of the village of Kleban Byk, who, after the start of full-scale aggression, was recruited by a representative of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and carried out reconnaissance and subversive activities in Kramatorsk district.

"First of all, the enemy agent tried to detect convoys of Ukrainian military equipment and transmit their geolocation to Russia through an anonymous messenger," the security service said.

SBU investigators notified both perpetrators of suspicion under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the direction, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military groups formed in line with the laws of Ukraine committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
