Ukraine's healthcare system needs additional 1,500 generators for smooth operation, least requirement satisfied – Dpty Health Minister

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The healthcare system of Ukraine needs additional 1,500 generator set of various capacities for smooth operation, however, its least requirement has been satisfied, Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine Bohdan Borukhovsky said.

"The least requirement is satisfied, but the need still remains. It is estimated at approximately 1,500 generator sets of various capacities, from the lowest to the highest, 300-400 kilowatt," he said on air of the national telethon on Tuesday.

Borukhovsky said that the number of generators available in clinics is sufficient to ensure work of operating theaters, intensive care units, and critical medical equipment, but not enough for smooth operation of clinic during long blackouts.

"Taking into account possible negative scenarios, we should be prepared for longer power outages, and respectively to connecting these generators to other medical equipment, as well as other groups of power consumption for lighting, cooking, etc.," he said.

The official also said that healthcare facilities should have more than one generator for stable work.
